BMW X3 Standard Performance & Engine Specs

The standard engine for the BMW X3 is a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder that delivers 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission. This transmission provides smooth shifting and optimized performance, but it’s also configurable.

BMW X3 Standard Features You can select Sport mode for cleaner acceleration and dynamic handling or switch into Manual shift mode to take control of your shift schedules and have complete command of your driving experience. Driving Dynamics Control gives you a similar ability to personalize your drive by letting you select among three different drive modes:

  • ECO PRO
  • COMFORT
  • SPORT

To help improve your fuel efficiency, this engine comes standard with Auto Start-Stop functionality. This system powers down your engine during extended stops at lights or in stand-still traffic. When you hit the accelerator again, the engine seamlessly comes back to life.

The X3 come standard with Dynamic Stability Control and Dynamic Traction Control as well, including additional features like Brake Fade Compensation, Start-off Assistant, Brake Drying, and Brake Stand-by features.

Brake Energy Regeneration also helps charge your engine’s battery by storing kinetic braking energy for reuse.

Standard Safety Technology in the BMW X3

Advanced safety comes standard in the BMW X3 with the Active Protection System and Active Driving Assistant.

The Active Protection System provides automatic post-collision assistance to help keep passengers safe, including:

  • Pretensioning seat belts
  • Closing windows and moonroof
  • Activating post-crash braking

BMW X3 Standard Features It also includes a pre-collision assistive feature called Fatigue and Focus Alert. This system monitors your driving patterns for behaviors outside the norm that may indicate you’re too drowsy or distracted to drive.

Other pre-collision systems found in the Active Driving Assistant include:

  • Frontal Collision Warning
  • Active Blind Spot Detection
  • Lane Departure Warning

Each of these systems is designed to help prevent a collision. Frontal Collision Warning will detect oncoming obstacles or anything on the road ahead so you’ll have more time to brake. Active Blind Spot Detection will alert you to anything in your vehicle’s blind spot, so merging and changing lanes on the highway is a breeze.

Lane Departure Warning works hand in hand with Active Blind Spot Detection, helping you seamlessly change lanes on the highway. If anything stands in your way, you’ll know about it and can wait until the coast is clear.

BMW X3: Standard Connectivity, Convenience, & Comfort

BMW X3 Standard Features When you climb inside the BMW X3, you’ll find many standard connectivity features, such as  the iDrive infotainment system. This system uses a 10.25” central information touchscreen with voice-command controls to access music streaming, make hands-free phone calls, or respond to texts from your Bluetooth®-connected smartphone.

You can also effortlessly integrate your smartphone through Apple CarPlay™ or Android Auto™. If you prefer a wired connection, you can also charge and link your device with your car via USB ports.

When you’re in Reverse, the full-color touchscreen display turns into a standard rearview camera, which gives you a better view of the space directly behind your vehicle. This feature helps you safely back into or out of a driveway or parking spot in a crowded area.

Interior Dimensions & Seating

The cabin of the BMW X3 is ultimately designed for your comfort as much as your connectivity. That becomes very apparent with the standard 10-way power front seats that can be curated specifically to meet your comfort needs. The advanced memory system of the X3 will even allow you to access the most recent settings for your driver’s seat, keeping you consistently comfortable.

Across each trim, passenger room and cargo volume are wildly impressive. Up front, you can enjoy 40.3 inches of legroom, while passengers in the back seats will sit comfortably through those longer rides with 36.4 inches of legroom.

If you’re driving the X3 with an empty back seat, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to bring along some extra baggage. With the 40/20/40 split fold-down rear seats fully folded, you can access up to a whopping 62.7 cubic feet of cargo space.

BMW X3 Standard Features You can easily access the X3’s immense cargo space with one of its most convenient features: a power tailgate. Simply wave your foot below the rear bumper, and the trunk will open. So, if you’re carrying heavy moving boxes, you’ll be able to easily load them into your vehicle.

BMW Connected App & Digital Assistant

The new BMW X3 also features two additional interior tech amenities to take your convenience and connectivity to new heights.

With the My BMW App, you’ll have constant access to your X3, from checking its fuel or charge status to starting the engine remotely. The app also features a Remote 3D View that will enable you to keep an eye on your vehicle and the surrounding area.

Voice-activated convenience goes a step further in the X3 with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Control settings, navigation, entertainment systems, and more in your vehicle just by saying “Hey, BMW…” followed by your command. You can even personalize your own activation word to bring the digital assistant to life.
