BMW X3 Standard Features
Even in its base-level trim, the BMW X3 comes equipped with luxury standard features that can add a lot to your drives around Stratham, Portsmouth, and Exeter. With a powerful engine, standard safety technology, and comfortable interior features, the team at BMW of Stratham thinks this SUV offers a solid foundation to work with when building out your ideal ride.
To find out why, check out some of our favorite BMW X3 standard features below.
BMW X3 Standard Engine Specs
The standard engine for the BMW X3 is a 2.0L TwinPower turbo I-4 that delivers 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission. This transmission provides smooth shifting and optimized performance; however, it’s also configurable.
You can select Sport Mode for cleaner acceleration and dynamic handling or switch into Manual Shift Mode to take control of your shift schedules and have complete command of your driving experience. Driving Dynamics Control gives you a similar ability to personalize your drive by letting you select between three different drive modes:
- ECO PRO
To help you improve your fuel efficiency, this engine comes standard with Auto Start-Stop functionality. This system powers down your engine during extended stops at lights or in stand-still traffic. When you hit the accelerator again, the engine seamlessly comes back to life.
Brake Energy Regeneration also helps you charge your battery by storing kinetic braking energy for reuse.
Standard Safety Technology in the BMW X3
Advanced safety comes standard in the BMW X3 with the Active Protection System and Active Guard Driver-Assist suite.
The Active Protection System includes post-collision assistance to keep passengers safe, including:
- Pretensioning seatbelts
- Automatic closing windows
- Post-crash braking
It also includes a pre-collision assistive feature called Fatigue and Focus Alert. This system monitors your driving for erratic behaviors that are outside of the norm and imply you may be too drowsy or distracted to drive.
Other pre-collision systems can be found in the Active Guard suite, which includes:
- Frontal Collision Warning
- Automatic City Collision Mitigation and Braking, including Daytime Pedestrian Detection
- Speed Limit Information
The Automatic City Collision Mitigation system kicks in at low speeds and issues an alert if it senses a potential hazard up ahead, such as stopped traffic or a pedestrian. If necessary, it’ll hit the brakes automatically to try to help prevent a collision from occurring.
Interior Connectivity and Convenience Features
When you climb inside the BMW X3, you’ll find many standard connectivity features, such as the iDrive infotainment system. This system uses touchscreen or voice-command controls to access music streaming, make hands-free phone calls, or respond to texts from your Bluetooth®-connected smartphone.
If you prefer a wired connection, you can also charge and link your device with your car via USB ports.
When you’re in reverse, the full-color touchscreen display turns into a standard rearview camera, which gives you a better view of the space directly behind your vehicle. This feature helps you back out of a parking spot more safely in a crowded area.
