BMW X3 vs Mercedes GLK

Many drivers in Stratham, Portsmouth, Exeter, and the surrounding New Hampshire communities have a lot of luxury vehicle options at their disposal. But two of their best options are the BMW X3 and the Mercedes GLK.

So, that’s why our team here at BMW of Stratham wrote this 2018 BMW X3 vs. 2018 Mercedes GLK comparison. Something to keep in mind, however, is that Mercedes recently started calling their GLK a GLC. In other words, while BMW has remained tried and true, Mercedes is unpredictable.

BMW vs Mercedes: Power & Performance

One of the coolest things about the 2018 BMW X3 is that it gives you the choice between two different incredible engines: the TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder or the M Performance TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder.

  • 2.0L TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder: 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.
  • 3.0L M Performance TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder: 355 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque.

On the other hand, you’ve got the Mercedes GLC: With a standard engine that merely squeaks out 241 horsepower, we weren’t nearly as impressed with its performance capabilities as we were with BMW’s.

After all, the 2018 BMW X3 also gives you Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), the BMW xDrive Intelligent All-Wheel Drive System, Dynamic Damper Control, and other performance-boosting systems.

Can the same be said about the 2018 Mercedes GLC? Why don’t you discover the answer with a test drive?

Uncompromisingly Luxurious SUVS

bmw dealerIf you take a test drive, something else that you’ll discover is that the 2018 BMW X3 is a beautiful SUV, on both the inside and the outside. You can even decide between three sumptuous design upgrades…

  • xLINE: This is for drivers who want bumper add-ons and 18-inch Y-spoke wheels for their next adventure.
  • Luxury: This is for drivers who want sleek exterior highlights, as well as a SensaTec cabin dashboard.
  • M SPORT: This is for drivers who want to put the sport in sport utility vehicle. From high-gloss roof rails to a Shadowline exterior trim and beyond, it’ll take the X3’s body to an entirely new level.

Unfortunately, while Mercedes makes a nice automobile, we simply don’t find the GLC’s exterior to be as aggressive or as defined as its BMW counterpart.

Plenty Of Room For Passengers & Cargo

Last, but certainly not least, we have to say that the 2018 BMW X3 gives you and your passengers plenty of room to stretch out and relax. It offers 41.1 inches of front headroom and 40.3 inches of front legroom. It also gives you 62.7 cubic feet of cargo room when the rear seats are folded down, to fit all your needed items inside.

Unfortunately, the GLC isn’t as spacious. While it may give you 40.8 inches legroom in front, you only get 37.8 inches of headroom. Plus, the maximum cargo capacity in this vehicle is just 56.5 cubic feet.
