BMW Introduces Concept 8 Series

June 20th, 2017 by

BMW unveiled the concept 8 Series at Italy’s Villa d’Este Concours last month, debuting a concept vehicle that is expected to bear many, many design influences that will carry onto the final production vehicles.

There is no mistaking the fact that the BMW 8 Series is a beautiful vehicle. Laser headlights hug the signature BMW kidney grille, with the long hood line, fluent roofline and muscular rear fender flares stressing the vehicles powerful elegance. Were on the record as saying that we fervently hope that the concepts 21-inch wheels are available in some option when the production models are made available.

The luxurious interior features two-tone leather and microsuede seating with contrast stitching, a digital instrument cluster and a squared-off steering wheel. BMWs next-generation iDrive architecture makes its debut in this vehicle, operated via a rotary controller that’s made of Swarovski crystal.

Expectations are that the 8 Series will be equipped with a standard turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine, with an available twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 offered as an upgrade. An eight-speed automatic transmission will be standard issue, and the BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system is likely to be an available option.

When the 8 Series begins selling in 2018, it is expected to be available as a cabriolet, a two-door coupe, and a four-door Gran Coupe.
